This morning I got invited to a Rouge event at Sephora to get a sneak peek/access to the upcoming holiday collections that are releasing later this year. The Sephora that I went to is really small, so they did not have the full collections and I only ended up buying 2 exclusive items (I am kicking myself for not purchasing a few other things). I WAS TOO DISTRACTED by the launch of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty line! I know that it just launched, but it is blowing up the internet! I ended up buying quite a few of the items and I am very excited about them.
With natural lighting:
The line is very exciting! There is mainly face products, many multi-use/versatile products (which I believe is going to become a big trend late 2017/2018), all inclusive shades for all skin tones including the palest of whites and really dark tones (in which both are underrepresented in most beauty lines), and the packaging, my gosh, the packaging is beautiful, sleek, and super cool! As I mentioned above an exciting thing about this line is the inclusiveness of all skin tones. I actually have trouble finding my perfect shade and many of my favorite foundations are too dark for me. Many times I can not even try a foundation line because the lightest shades are too dark. So, I was excited to see the line had 40 shades!
I did buy the Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear foundation in 120 (for fair skin with neutral undertones). It is a medium coverage foundation and costs $34 for 1.08 oz (a little more than the average product). During the event, I was color matched and the line was tested on me. The foundation has a beautiful soft matte finish and I was color matched perfectly! I bought the brush as well (#110 $34). When I came home and redid my makeup it honestly felt like I was applying nothing to the skin (super lightweight) and didn’t seem to have a lot of glide when applying, but melts into the skin. I am always on the look out for amazing foundation as I have some problematic skin. I really loved this-I loved how it looks and how it feels. I would say the only downfall of the product is that for best results your skin needs to be primed (not just with primer, but good hydrating skincare). I don’t think it looks as good on places where I have dry patches (I am using Differin, but normally do not have dry skin.)
I ended up getting the match stix trio in Light 100. It comes with 2 matte skin sticks (Linen and Amber) and 1 shimmer skin stick (starstruck). There are four sets and they go for $54 each. These are a great deal instead of buying them separately for $25 a piece. These blended and melted in to the skin well. I liked the contour and the highlighter starstruck the most. Amber is a great contour color for my skin tone and the stick highlighter was really nice for a day time, dewy, natural highlight. The concealer/highlight was too close to my skin tone or too dark to use as an under eye concealer/highlighter, but Its a good color to conceal other parts of my face. I had to be selective when buying these! There are so many to choose from-10 shimmer shades and 20 matte shades. I was really interested in the colors unicorn and confetti, but I talked my self out of them for now. Lastly, I must say the packaging is really cool (magnetic) and just stunning.
I bought the invisimatte blotting powder ($32). I haven’t really played with it much, but I got it to set my under eyes and blot my face in the oily part. It is supposed to be universal and have no flashback. I also got the gloss bomb universal lip luminizer in Fenty glow ($18) it is described a shimmering rose nude. I really liked it. It is isn’t a holy grail product, but I liked the consistency and it looks great on my lips!
Lastly, I got two Killawatt freestyle highlighters ($34) in Lightning Dust/Fire crystal and Trophy wife. Trophy wife is Gold AF! It is described as a 3D hyper metallic gold. I would say that it is a shocking color. It looks good on the face (lightly applied) for night time on my skin tone. It looks great on the body and it is GORGEOUS on the inner eye/eyes. The 2 highlighters in the Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal are so similar in color. I noticed that with all of the dual ones. This is a beautiful natural, glowy highlight.
Overall, this is a beautiful line! Really, there were no misses that I tried. Some products like the lip gloss don’t have the wow factor, but look and feel great.
